A Land in Flames by Ghostwalker2061 A Land in Flames by Ghostwalker2061
A scene I want to so happen in the third story. And I don't care if anyone would want it or not. I want it. That's what matters the most. And, yes, I know what those little missiles look like. You don't need to mention it.

Neltharion and Jaina, after the destruction of Theramore Isle, decide to take their anger out on Durotar, with the help of the stolen Focusing Iris. Nice roasted orcs.

Yes, Jaina's hair is white with that blonde stripe, eyes glowing. Nel's beard is striped with white, with his left eye glowing (and blind in that eye as well). His right eye is red, well, Nel's eyes tend to turn red when he's pissed off.

Neltharion/Deathwing and Jaina Blizzard

Nel's beard and his squishiness. Mine.

Ghost,
I posted this on your profile before realizing there is an actual "critique" function on DA. Sorry about that! Anyway, here is what I posted.

First, very nice piece. Very evocative and well rendered. Now for the critique: I can't really tell what is goig on. Where are the fireballs coming from? The bottom panel is really confusing (I think Nel is in there, but I forms don't make sense to me) and I have no idea waht Jaina is doing. Also, there seems to be too much light filtering through Nel's wings in the middle panel. The have a uniform glow (which is well rendered by the way), but the fireballs appear to be in front of the wings (or at least one does), so I wouldn't think Nel's wing's would glow like that when the light is in front. That is it from me. Another nice work - thank you for sharing.

The magic effects really look good in the night, especially in the last panel. Jaina is looking good too, I know you aren't too fond of drawing humans but this one has the "warcraft" feel to it for me, the robe in particular is spot on.

I can't really tell what is going on by just looking at the images, burning orcs you say in the description? I don't see any orcs, or Orgrimmar for that matter though I find it nice that you're doing different stuff,as in, telling a story without any words to go with it.

Well, you forget how big Nel happens to be. Dragon his size, when he's firing off his attacks, you don't see the buildings he's burning, you just see the flames and the smoke.

Neltharion is nearing a thousand feet in length, here. If you ever stood on a building a thousand feet high, you really don't see the people below.

He's not in Orgrimmar. This is more based on real world sizes, so where he happens to be is a good 200 miles from Org, but still in Durotar. I kinda imagine Durotar taking up pretty much an area half the size of the state of Texas at least, (The Barrens both North and South take up a good area of the Southwestern badlands of the US, maybe Utah and Nevada mushed together,) in which, if Nel is at let say Austin, TX, he's not gonna see Orgrimmar, which is located in Houston, TX. I mean, I'm in Knoxville, TN, and I can't see Nashville from here.

For that image to happen, Nel would have to be a mile back from the fleeing orcs. Judging by the size of the dragon and the distance, I'd say it's not as big as Nel.

Pretty much, at a low altitude, Neltharion flying over and attacking orcs, all you would see is maybe a few scales, a rip in his hide, and a lot of scared orcs.

Someone noted me once about the enormous size that Neltharion happens to be. And one thing he reminded me over and over that Neltharion is so huge that even other dragons would be pissing themselves in fear of him. That people, regardless to who they are, would always be in terror of him, unless they've built up some sort of resistance to him like Calia did. One thing that I am going to do more in the next story, people shitting themselves in fear when Neltharion comes near in his true size. And I mean just about everyone except Calia and the Dragon Aspects, and Jaina, and Garrosh, who thinks Nel is a joke, and maybe Varian. I never took that into account much because it seems in Warcraft no one's really scared of a dragon, but that's gonna change. No one's really scared of a dragon, but something Nel's size, yeah, it's unnerving at least to be beside him.

So, I've been calculating Nel's mass, size, that sort of thing. With his mass, his actual wingspan is less than half a mile in width. He's big.

Unlike the D&D dragons, who have their dragonfear ability, I don't think they instill the same kind of terror from people in WoW mainly because the dragons there have always been portrayed as being good guys. (Except the Black ones). I'd say they instill the same amount of fear as the dragons on Pern.

It's the same kind of fear. That dragonfear ability stems mostly from well, their size. You noticed when a dragon gets to a certain size, that's when the dragonfear sets in. And D&D's revamp has pretty much stated that any creature holding that size has a similar fear aura. It has to do with the size and mass of the creature.

With Neltharion, the fear is completely different. He is so big that he would instill fear in other dragons. Considering the fact that Nel can swallow most dragons whole, he is going to instill fear where ever he goes. Even if dragons on Azeroth don't have the dragonfear aura, Neltahrion actually would all because of his size. He's the size of the damned Empire State Building. People are going to be scared of that.

With the help of a review, I realized that Siderion COULDN'T have assisted him in getting up. If Nel were to fall on Sid, he'd squish him like a pancake. I mean literally. Sid, would die from Neltharion's weight crushing his bones.

You really can't treat Neltharion like all the other dragons on Azeroth, let alone like all the other Aspects. And it is due to his size.
