Dunkelzahn and Kiryuu sketch

Description

I figured I also redo another old image that wasn't all that great.  With a new one of the Big D's redesign.

I had this idea that at the end of the Kiryuu Saga, we take a step backwards about 500 years to the like 3 decade of the Sixth World where Kiryuu first meets the Greats like Dunkelzahn and Lofwyr.  I mean, there's this huge hole of pretty much nothing.

So many people asked me what the fuck are dragons doing in Mass Effect and Halo?

And to answer that...I'll have to take a nice leap back in time.  You see the events of Mass Effect and Halo are taking place in the Sixth World of Shadowrun, but over 500 years after the start of the Sixth World.  And the Sixth World is still going on.  There are still people who have been Goblinized, elves, dwarves.  But they're not as prevalent as they were at the beginning.

There's a good reason for it, and it has to do with Soñador Malcho, who used Technomancy to reverse the effects of Mana Goblinization on the populace.  And also because Goblinization happens on Earth.  Those who are born off-world and do not come to Earth do not transform.  And to prevent possible transforming when some come to Earth, Malcho was able to track the very gene that expressed itself "switching on" to create a metahuman and pretty much used eugenics to prevent that from happening.

That's right, Malcho reversed the effects of Goblinization that created metahumanity.  Mothers of Metahumanity were NOT happy by his actions.

But there are still some who refused the "cure" for metahumanity and that's why Kiryuu Knight still has pretty troll women working for him as secretaries.  Kiryuu has this thing about hiring troll women for secretaries. I think he has a small fetish.

And if any of you are wondering, no, the Trolls in Shadowrun do NOT look like the trolls in World of Warcraft.  Trolls in Shadowrun have horns and short pointed ears with various shades of brown skin, unlike the ones in Warcraft, who are mostly bluish in color, and have tusks, a slumped posture, and very LONG flappy pointed ears.  In Shadowrun, many of the troll females that Kiryuu hires look like very sexy models, tall, with pointed ears, tanned skin, cute fangs, and gracefully curled horns.

But the one thing I've never really told was how Kiryuu and Dunkelzahn met...well, I did, but it was very brief when Kiryuu went to Colorado where Dunkelzahn awoke and attempting to make sure the Great Western Dragon wasn't causing any problems.  Dunkelzahn, since then, as Dunkelzahn is being the BIGGEST DRAGON NERD ON THE PLANET, was just festinated with Kiryuu.

I did write a short story of the Big D having Kiryuu on his show Wyrm Talk, and then the convo went south afterwards when Dunkelzahn implied he was interested in having Kiryuu make biosyntech for him.  Yeah, the Big D wanted biosyntech.

And then there's the story where Dunkelzahn was killed on the night of his inauguration and his running mate, Kiryuu Knight, was left being the new President.

And most who read the story probably thought that Dunkelzahn was the last President of Earth before Kiryuu Knight became President.  If only, man.  No, Dunkelzahn ran for President of the United Canadian American States.  POTUCAS.  When from POTUS to POTUCAS.  Then, he died in a limo from a small dirty bomb (nuke) and Kiryuu became the new President afterwards.  But the reason why is because Dunkelzahn had to become incorporeal in order to keep King Ghidorah, and his Reapers, aka the Horrors in Shadowrun, at bay.

Yes, Dunkelzahn was fighting Reapers before the Reapers showed up in Mass Effect!  This is why Kedzuel also wanted to talk to him when he met the Big D and Telek in Halo Civil War.

But there is a story that has never been told.  The one that happened prior to Dunkelzahn's death, and that being the emergence of the Invae.

In this story, Dunkelzahn goes to Chicago to the heart of the Invae infestation with a mounted head cam, in his dragon form, and started recording Kiryuu Knight doing what Kiryuu Knight does best, fighting monsters.  And pretty much after seeing Kiryuu use both his natural abilities, his indigo breath weapon of death, his biosyntech blades, and Technomancy, this cements into Dunkelzahn's mind that Kiryuu should be on his team.

I do have a plan on finally finishing Infestation which details how Alan finds the Dragonheart, a crystal phylactery housing Dunkelzahn's incorporeal form...and giving it to Kiryuu to resolve the bit about Dunkelzahn's Will that once the Dragonheart returns to the Prime Plane, it must go to Kiryuu Knight.

And in Civil War, we're gonna see just how big of a nerd Dunkelzahn is when he's talking with Telek.  It's cute, the incorporeal Great Dragon annoys Telek so much.  But there is a friendship there.  But enjoy, here's Dunkelzahn and Kiryuu together.

And look!  Kiryuu doesn't look sinister in this image.
