My little misgivings of any starving artist's lot in life. Many times we feel that though we struggle as artist, taking other jobs, having a resume filled with...THOSE jobs, we become less identified as artists and more identified by the jobs we list upon our resumes.
We lose our identity as artists. And we struggle so hard in keeping that identity, but it never comes. And yeah, a lot of us who still crawl around in the mud feel we've failed somewhere. Yours truly included among the bunch.
Believe it or not, outside of my freelance company that I started twelve years back, I have on other art reference, where I worked as a graphic designer. And I was only working as one as a temp who only needed me for two weeks while they waited until the person they hired finally quit her other job so she could come and work the position I was filling.
And when she finally showed, yeah, I was let go.
