Holy crap, new Pyrothraxus image! Well, there we go...Happy the 26th of December everyone.
A cliche dragon sitting on a hoard in a cave, well, it's Jon and remember, Jon's a Great Wyrm Red Dragon, so it's allowed.
Just read this and it'll explain everything.
I think my computer was having a heart attack when I was doing the hoard, so I just got out one of my lazy texture brushes to finish it. Pyrothraxus in the new coloring style. Finally, I drew every single scale instead of leaving those bits blank. Hurray!
edit Some detailing in the leg needed to be fixed.
Personally I enjoy the effect that the coins produce; it really emphasizes just how massive he is. Gold coins would be as sand to a dragon, precious sand, yes, but sand all the same.
I do have a question, is that a waterfall behind him, or moonlight through cracks in the roof?
I would be worried about washing my treasure away, if waterfall it be, but it does provide a lovely contrast to the heated shine of so much gold.
I would say the level of detail is a step up from your previous works, this image looks more crisp and clear to me and overall more, well, professional.
The gold doesn't look like coins to me though, more like sand. I would have added some other (larger) things to make it look more like treasure, maybe a few chests, vases, swords, statues or gems.
Maybe a bit cliche, but hey, there's no beating the classics, thanks for sharing. Hmh, I should insert a Hobbit reference here but having read the book and knowing how the red dragon in that one ends up, I'd rather not.
You'll have to excuse me, it's been over a month since I last updated my story and I promised myself not to do anything else until I get it done, preferably before new year. That's also why I have been slow to respond as of late but I'll get to it eventually.

Yes, he is very huge.
