The Lady's Sacrifice by Ghostwalker2061 The Lady's Sacrifice by Ghostwalker2061
Well, here it is...the sacrifice of Lady Christine to the very evil Pyrothraxus the Red.

This was the sacrifice, the one that made him change. She showed no fear to him, and spoke of compassion towards her people and her greedy father, which made Pyrothraxus want to set her free. But in the end, she was killed like all the other virgins sent up to his lair. However, he regretted what he had done and all through the night, for the first time in his life, wept for a life now gone.

This is the saddest image I've done in its context.

Edit It needed some brightening.
I'm not entirely happy with the background, but it's good enough because I can't think of doing it any way else.

I had been thinking about this scene back when it was first mentioned. Very well done, I can get the sense of tone you're aiming for.

Background is good enough, subtle and not overcomplicated to do not drag attention away form the scene. But what I really like is the shading. It does not really looks like painting, more like... a coloring with complex, soft cell-shading? Either way it looks damn awesome.

Well, when you mention things that have nothing to do with the image you're commenting on, I call that spam.

So, do you have anything of substance to discuss about the image. Do you like the image, do you not like the image, that's what I want to hear. Not random suggestions about the damned KGB.

I notice every comment. I don't reply to everyone, but I do notice them.

But what irks me is babbling nonsense like this. So, yes, I will reply to that sort of thing to ask the poster to say something related to the image instead of posting up spam.

did you come up with this story or is there a book or something where I can read the whole thing? Because I really like the story you wrote about this drawing.

The lady's sacrifice is not a story, but a backstory on Pyrothraxus. You have to go to my fanfiction.net account which is located in the journal side bar to read all about it.

I always stated in the story it was the Winter Solstice or sometimes I would refer to it as Yule. It never happened in the summer. In the old ways when Europe was mostly pagan, some of the most important holidays happened in the winter, which is why the Christians decided to celebrate Christmas during that time, it was their way of translating the old ways they knew into the new religion that was brought up from Christian Rome.

I think that you did a great job with the background.
You also did an excellant job with the shading and the details of the snow and the rocks.
Lady Christine is a very beautiful young woman.
And Pyrothraxus....wow very intimendating.

There are many things about this picture that stand out to me. The cold atmosphere is one thing. You can actually get a feel of how cold it is from the snow on the rocks and the breath of Pyro and Lady Christine. And another thing that caught my eye was Pyro's stance. Though the image is still, I keep looking at it and waiting for him to move out of the cave. And Pyro's face jumps out at me, as well. The snarl on his face, and the detail of the scales. The background is nice, I think. Really sets off the image in some way.

All in all, I think you've done great with this image :)

Um, yes, he's a Chromatic Red Dragon. Of course he would be at one time evil. And many times in the story, it was brought up that he was evil. Um, you didn't read that part?

Let's see, it was brought up a lot at the end of the Crimson Dragon. And of course, multiple times in Crimson Dragon II. How far have you gotten in either story? I even mentioned Pyrothraxus' point of view about that particular scene in the Camping Trip.

Okay then, if I show off a major plot point in the story through imagery, don't ask about it. I mean you ask: "I didn't know Pyrothraxus was evil." When I mentioned that several times in both stories. I hate it when people ask questions about the story that are in fact answered in the story.

No, I don't have a reference sheet.

There's two little things I like about this picture. One, the smoke coming from Pyrothraxus' nostrils, which with all the snow could also be steam. Two, Lady Christine has a rather Rubenesque figure, a nice contrast from all the rail-thin women that are usually fed to dragons which wouldn't provide even a morsel of meat.
