Here is a story idea that I had around March while I was writing some more of Halo 3 Times as Different. I thought of a story within the story, basically. Actually this story would bridge the gap between Halo 2 Different and Halo 3 Times as Different. It was slightly based on Halo: Uprising. And I mean slightly because I wanted to change the attack on Cleveland, Ohio. So, I changed it to Lexington, Kentucky, just so I could piss off Malcho with a bunch of Covenant ships trying to grab a hold of his Forerunner toys. Remember, Technomancy is also known as Forerunner technology. If you haven't gotten that, then read Halo 3 Times as Different, I basically stated it in the first chapter.
Well, that big gold dragon up there isn't Malcho. For those of you who have read all the Halo stories I've written and heard the name Lofwyr spoken a few times and yet still don't know who he is...Halo: The Voi Assessment will explain it to you because that story revolves around him, the company Saeder-Krupp (which is the industrial company that builds the ships for the UNSC), and partially on Malcho as well and the battle that happened before the Chief arrived on Dreadnaught and before Miranda came back with Wago and the Arbiter. Also, the story will focus on Shipmaster Cujo 'Mentatalee, Telek 'Herosee's best friend who meets the Great Dragon Lofwyr while he was arrested for entering a military controlled area around where the Prophet of Regret's ship (which is also Wago's ship) jumped to slipspace and destroyed New Mombassa. Dragons are persistent creatures. And that's when Cujo and Lofwyr hears about the Covenant's return to Earth--setting their eyes on Malcho's hometown of Lexington, KY, to grab the Tower of Atlantis which plays a 'KEY' role in allowing the Prophet of Truth's ship Dreadnaught to activate the Portal to the Ark. If you haven't read Mechagodzilla XIV: Past Present and Future, you haven't read the part where Malcho wins the Tower of Atlantis from Manda in a bet on the battle between King Ghidorah and Kiryuu Knight. But that little incident was mentioned in Halo 3 Times as Different. Now, we get to see what part the Tower actually played when the Forerunners set it up 40K years ago on Earth.
I may be writing this story instead of the Golden Disk one all because of the information of who does what in this story is essential to the explanation for you fans who only read the Halo stories and not bother with the Mechagodzilla stories and then get lost when I mention the name Malcho. But no one's ever met Lofwyr because I've never written about him. Now you get to meet Lofwyr. Lofwyr's character is a bit different in my stories than how he's represented in Shadowrun. Let's just say after the fall of Reach and Lofwyr loosing a substantial percentage in the planet after it was glassed, has humbled him. He now knows the real threat the Covenant truly possess and it's got him worried. Which is why he personally decides to take a trip to Africa. The image up there is from Floodgate. In the story Halo 3 Times as Different, when the Chief and the Arbiter watch Truth's ship disappear into the portal, Lofwyr (though not mentioned) was only a 100 feet away from them. As soon as they leave he walks into the very spot they were standing at and stares at the activated portal. Then, he gets to fight the Flood when they come. And Great Dragons aren't immune to Flood.
This story also states what happens when Gravemind/King Ghidorah flies High Charity to Earth and up the Portal. The game never states that he left anything behind, but in this story he does.
Lofwyr's coloration and design is based off of the dragon from the front cover of the Shadowrun book called 'Never Deal with a Dragon'. That statement is reference to Lofwyr. Never deal with him. But the Western Dragon on the front cover is called Haesslich but he's not a Great Dragon, just a powerful one. That book was the first Shadowrun book I had ever read and it was what introduced me to Lofwyr since he was the hiring party of the Shadowrunner sent to take down Haesslich.
Enjoy because this may be the last painting for a while. My Wacom tablet's cord is going out and I need to get it repaired. Hopefully I'll be able to do that soon.
