Well imagine my surprise to find this video by a guy who appeared on Tim Pool last month.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the plot of Roland Emmerich’s 2012 as an actual conspiracy theory!

No really, people still subscribe to the Earth Crust Displacement Theory even after all this time that Plate Tectonics pretty much debunked that whole thing. This theory posits that Antarctica some time 12000 years ago was at the equator and temperate to tropical. And that Antarctica was once Atlantis. No seriously. Atlantis didn’t sink, it just suddenly moved to the South Pole in the span of 2 days according to this yahoo.

This theory was created back during the 20th century by Graham Hancock and Charles Hapgood. And this was back before the 1970s when Plate Tectonics was gaining traction.

And who is the guy who actually supported this theory according to these conspiratards? Albert Einstein.

Except he actually didn’t. Not even close. He basically wrote a forward for his friend. That doesn’t mean he subscribed to this bullshit bastardization of plate tectonics.

So, dingus here posits that when the magnetic poles flip, we’re gonna have an instant geophysical pole reversal. Basically Earth Crust Displacement is going to shift the continents into a new position. Basically, flip the planet over. Because it happened during the Ice Age and that’s why we found Siberian Mammoths frozen with undigested food in their stomachs.

Hey, wasn’t that mentioned in another Roland Emmerich movie? The Day after Tomorrow? The Great Magastorm that would shift us into a new Ice Age. Yeah, he’s pretty much got all his evidence from these two movies.

Earth Crust Displacement Theory.

The North Pole is going to be in Wisconsin.

You know if suddenly the Earth jerked the continents around within the course of two days, there would be massive evidence of this happening. Let’s begin with what he claims as evidence, the Biblical Flood. Yes, jerky the continents around like that would cause massive flooding. Massive flooding in the form of gigantic tsunamis! But here’s the thing, we only had evidence of coastlines being eaten up by melt water from the ice sheets. That’s what caused the Biblical flood, not the continents jerking around. The other evidence is earthquake and volcanic eruptions. As my friend put it.

And those problems we would be seeing as evidence in the rock right now. We don’t see this evidence.

I mean, this is basically an idea of what we would just get.

Yeah, again, the evidence is the plot of the movie 2012.

Let’s go through the video.

1) Going from “there are some mammoths preserved in permafrost” to “earth tipped over by 90 degrees" is a bit of a reach.

For instance, Siberia may be wicked cold in the winter, but there are large regions of forests, grasslands, etc in its geography, and it does support wild animals. Further, animals moving between such complex regions searching for food could certainly still be fossilized or frozen as they travel. They aren’t necessarily living in that region permanently.

Also, a friend of mine lives in Siberia. Do you know what Siberia is like when it’s not winter? Tropical. Yeah, some times the temperature can get up to 102ºF in the summer. Siberia has extreme winters and extreme summers. And here’s another thing you don’t know about Siberia. It freezes before the grass turns brown in winter. It freezes before the trees turn their colors. Basically, it freezes when it’s still green. So can a Siberian freeze kill a Mammoth while it’s munching on green food? Absolutely.

2) On his ice sheet dating, he’s forgetting that one can also date the land underneath an ice sheet, materials trapped in the ice sheet, etc. Not to mention date glacial moraines, seafloor sediments, etc. If the earth turned over, there’d be evidence strewn in lots of places.

3) For Antartica melting if it it were at the equator…

Antartica is largely a cluster of islands topped by ice. If it were at the equator, the ice would be exposed to intense sunlight and hot air from above, and hot water from the sides and below. Hence it would melt even in a glacial period, unless that glacial period were like snowball earth.

It’d likely keep some high elevation mountain glaciers, but all the low elevation and ocean-touching ice would go away.

4) Once an internet argument starts taking about “classified data”, it’s basically like hitting conspiracy theory bingo.

5) He points out Antartica alternating between glacial and tropical climates as evidence of a polar shift here. But we know that Antartica has been both a) located closer to the equator due to continental drift at times, and b) been warn in times where Earth’s climate was warm due to very high CO2 levels. A polar shift isn’t required to explain this.

6) He also states several times that “Ancient Texts” refer to these events, but never provides any evidence to back that statement.

7) He claims there are too many “coincidences” for anything but his explanation to be true. But coincidences are irrelevant to whether an argument is valid or not, or whether a claim is true or not.

More generally, the universe is a big place, and hence coincidences happen all the time. The fact that he a) came across certain pieces of information, b) thought of them as connected, and c) put together a story around them doesn't mean those things are true, or meaningful in the first place.

The whole point of doing science is for us to avoid fooling ourselves by making this type of mistake.

This is a pseudoscience nutjob, and you shouldn’t be listening to him.

The problem is, he’s more dangerous than say the Flattards. Because what he posits he thinks he can back it up with “science” that will fool the average joe American.

And he did.

The nutjob on Tim Pool’s platform. And let’s not forget the whole spooky Elites buying up farmland because they know what’s what and we’re in the dark. Wooooo!

I don’t just debunk Flattards. They are the easiest to debunk. I debunk all crackpot pseudoscience bullshit where ever I find it.

Now, I’m going to go back to charging up my crystal ball. And trust me, even my crystal ball says this is bullshit.

Where were any of you when Mire-Goji happened, when Gira-goji happened? And the design of Evo-Goji is very Mire-like.

Never mind the fact that Godzilla's breath weapon is actually going ultraviolet, which means it's super powerful, super hot, and can now cause cataracts to anyone looking at it. Never mind that magenta is an eldritch color from the Color out of Space! A color that you literally can't see with your eyes, it's your brain that makes it up. Seriously, magenta is a color that doesn't even exist, that's alien, other worldly, that is an illusion your mind puts together because your eyes can't make sense of it.

I'm glad that people are seeing the truth that Neltharion was corrupted against his will. I suppose that's one good thing coming from Dragonflight. The other is well, realizing that the dragons in Dragonflight are just humans with an extra form, rather than being dragons. Blizzard still doesn't know how to do dragons right.
